Privacy Policy

In short: Maparkes helps you find kid-friendly places and activities in Chile. We store the minimum needed for the app to work —your account, your preferences, and what you choose to save— and we don't sell your data or show third-party ads.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Alan Gomes, a natural person, responsible for the Maparkes app and website (maparkes.com). For any question about your data or to exercise your rights, write to hola@maparkes.com.

2. Who Maparkes is for

Maparkes is intended for adults —parents and caregivers— looking for places and activities for children. It is not directed to minors and we do not knowingly collect data from minors. The age ranges you can set describe your preferences as an adult (which ages you're looking for), not any child's identity.

3. What data we collect

Account: your email and name. Passwords are always stored encrypted, never in plain text.
Location: with your permission, your device's approximate location, only to show you nearby places. It's used in the moment; you can revoke the permission anytime in your phone settings.
Preferences: the districts and age ranges you choose, to better rank what we show you and send relevant alerts.
Notifications: if you enable them, a push notification token from your device, to send the alerts you asked for.
What you create or save: your favorites, reviews and ratings, photos you add to a review, and your check-ins.
Venue owners: if you claim a venue as its owner, the contact details you provide so we can verify it.
App usage: usage events (which screens open, what's searched) to understand what works and improve. This analytics is first-party and kept anonymous where possible; we use no third-party ad SDKs.

4. Who we share data with

We don't sell your data. To operate, we rely on infrastructure providers that process data only on our behalf:

Cloudflare — hosting, database, and photo storage.
Resend — sending the app's emails (verification, account notices). Receives your email address.
Expo — sending push notifications. Receives your device's notification token, not your identity.
Google Places — information about the places in the catalog. Queried from our servers about the places; we don't share your personal location with it.
Apple and Google — the stores you install the app from and, if we ever offer a subscription, payment processing.

5. Payments

Maparkes is free today. If we later offer a subscription, payment is processed by Apple or Google (and our subscription provider). We never see or store your card details.

6. Your rights

You may request to access, correct, delete, or object to the use of your data, under Chile's Law No. 19.628 on the Protection of Private Life and applicable Chilean regulation. To exercise them, write to hola@maparkes.com and we'll respond as soon as possible.

To delete your account and associated data, write to that same address and we'll process the request within a reasonable time. Some information may be retained if a law requires it.

7. How long we keep your data

We keep your data while you have an active account. If you delete it, we remove your personal information, except what we must keep by legal obligation. Reviews may be shown anonymously even after you close your account.

8. Security

Passwords are stored encrypted and connections with the app always travel over encrypted channels (HTTPS). No system is foolproof, but we work to protect your information.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, when the change is significant, we'll let you know inside the app.
